It is hard to find games for 4 year olds just learning how to use GBA. This is a great game for them - it is challenging, and at some points difficult - but like other reviewers have said you don't "die" so you just back up a bit to continue. My 4 1/2 year old got this alongwith 2 other games for Christmas and this is the only one she consistently plays. I bought this game for my daughter as a Christmas present. Both of us absolutely love it. My daughter turned 4 in October and this game is easy enough to play that she is able to truly enjoy it. Out of the 3 games she received for Christmas, this is the only one she plays regularly.As for me, I took the time to play it so that I understood the rules and how to play so that I could better explain it to her. Even in that trial game, I really enjoyed myself. When ever you make a mistake, instead of "dying" you simply go back to a specific place in the game that you have already passed. You never have to start all over again, no matter how many times you mess up. In addition, the game is set up by levels and after the completion of a level you receive a password so that you can resume play at a later time from the new level.
If you and your child enjoy watching Dora the Explorer, you will definately love this game. Just be advised, that older children may be disappointed as it is an easy game to play. I would recommend this for children 4-6.
