Video Game Reviews of Final Fantasy Tactics AdvanceCustomer Review: Good game but plagued by flaws. Summary: 3 StarsI enjoyed this game a great deal and put in over 30 hours of time into it before i completed it... but im still only 1/3 finished with all the missions.
The battles are simple yet fun but take way too long.
You have to click about 7 times just to have a character fight.
And waiting for the enemies to move is even slower.
Sometimes an enemies portrait will just stay on screen as if the computer is 'thinking' of what to do next.
This gets annoying after about the 500th battle...
And the card and law system? It hinders the game so much and is what really hurts the game.
Sometimes things like Magic and Fight will be outlawed totally for a fight. Which means you cant Fight or use Magic for the whole fight!!
If you do use an outlawed command then you are penalized by things like taking away 5000 gold or taking away the battles reward which really stinks. And if you use an outlawed command twice in a battle than your character goes to prison and is taken away from the fight. Fun stuff...
And what penalties do the enemies get for using outlawed things? Nothing! They are free to do whatever they want without consequence. Wheres the fun in that?
All in all the game is still fun with its millions of classes, weapons, skills, characters, and gameplay but it couldve been perfect without its slow, tedious gameplay and without its flawed law system.
Customer Review: Fun, no complaints Summary: 5 StarsThis game is addicting. Like caffine addicting. Seriously, this game is fun. The story starts out rather childish with apperntly shallow charecters, but as it progress, say about, for me, twenty hours into the game, you see that it's actually closer to a story about escapeism. The battles are just sweet, though sometimes (Very begining) there appears to be too much talking. The discover new areas thing was fun too. Now off to face down the final boss who I hate because my most powerful charecter is a paladin, paladins only do holy damage, and it's immune to holy damage.
Customer Review: Swords, and bows, and nukes, oh my! Summary: 4 StarsOkay, to be frank, this game owns. I didn't like FFT because of the permanent death thing, but in FFTA, Marche can die and die and die and not die permanently.
---Graphics-wise, this game is dumbed down from FFT, but the class sprites look good and the mugshots are far better than FFT. They are quite repetitive, but that's only a slight problem. Also the bright colors make up for the dark nature of the gameboy screen.
---Sound-wise, this game is very good, many good tracks and very few problems, but its exceptional for a handheld.
---Story-wise, I thought it leaned more to the childish side, but it was okay, it was still good. I didn't like the end and the fact that Marche was dense as all hell to Ritz's behavior towards him was kind of funny... but odd.
---Gameplay-wise, this did damage to the score. Gameplay is fun, and addicting but it gets too old after awhile and enemy hordes have very simple patterns and the only time that changes is when you get stuck in a jagd, which are lawless parts of Ivalice, so you get pwned. (Yes I put pwned on purpose.)
All in all its a good game, albeit a slightly flawed one, but its worth the price, trust me on this one.
Customer Review: No Where Near As Good... Summary: 3 StarsI loved Final Fantasy Tactics on the Playstation very much... I still play it every once in awhile. I bought this game in the hopes that it would be very similar to FFT, but it is a bit different, and not in a good way.
To start, the whole "learning of new abilities" is really annoying compared to FFT. You don't get points to "buy" abilities, you have to equip certain items to learn them. Like to learn Fire as a wizard, you have to equip a certain weapon. It gets confusing after awhile when you can't remember who learned what and which items you need to keep because someone still needs to learn that ability.
Second is they added cards to the battles. You are restricted from using certain abilities or weapons by "law cards". Though your characters can't actually die during these battles (they just pass out with the little stars circling their heads), if you forget to check the laws during battle and use something illegal, you might just have one of your best fighters going to prison for a little while.
Other than that, it is pretty similar to the old FFT. Unfortunately, the camera angles are sometimes frustrating, but given it's a Gameboy game it's understandable. The storyline is interesting, and the battles will entertain you for quite sometime. If you are a fan of other Final Fantasy games, or just want something FFT-like for your Gameboy Advance, then you might like this one.
Customer Review: My first Final Fantasy Summary: 5 StarsI love this game I mean it's so hot. It's fairly challenging. In the beginning it's weird and somewhat difficult to understand in the beginning. But the game is fairly priced and fun and for people who know final fantasy you get healed between battles. This game is pretty good if I cursed there would be a lot of words positive ones describing this game.
