Video Game Reviews of Golden Sun: The Lost Age

Customer Review: Golden Sun: Puzzles Shine, story so-so
Summary: 5 Stars

This is THE Rpg to get for gba. The puzzles are awesome, mind-boggling at times (I had to look online multiple times for solving the puzzles). The combat system, though simple, is flashy and entertaining, and random battles aren't too bad as they are usually very quick. But I am not as big a fan of the story. It's a bit confusing and you don't see where GS is going (Some of the bosses have little to do with the story). Also, at least graphics wise, this game really is just the same as GS:1. BUT if you liked GS:1, which I did, you will love GS:lost age, as the locales and storyline, though confusing at times, are relatively entertaining. This is probably my favorite game of all the GBA games. BUY IT!!!

Customer Review: great! hours of fun
Summary: 5 Stars

this game was probaly one of the best i have ever played. in this game you get to be all new characters . it is challenging for newbies and puzzle game fans alike. in this there is alot more djinn and pysenergy. and if you get the right combos to allow super strong psyenergy attacks you will get through it with to much fuss. it is realy great and all of my brotheres liked it. you might want to start out with the first golden sun game thought to get the feel of it. it came be very confusing at time but i made it so it cant be too hard. and i can hardly wait for a third game. o i so hope they come out with one. btw this game has a great story line. a perfect balance of fighting and socialzing with locals. a must buy game.

Customer Review: An excellent RPG
Summary: 5 Stars

This is one of the best RPGs out for the Game Boy today. The only game that can rival it is the original Golden Sun. "The Lost Age" has some beautiful graphics and incredible fight sequences. Although the learning curve on it can be rather difficult, if you go to some of the eb sites out there about how to use your summoned monsters, you can figure it out after awhile. I do think you will have trouble with it though if you don't do your own research, as the in game help and the manual do not really explain the fighting system well enough.

When I first got this game, I thought that I needed to play the original in order to understand it. While it does follow a storyline directly from the original, this game is perfectly capable of holding up as a standalone game, especially since the original storyline doesn't make much sense anyway. This game does not really improve on the gameplay of the original in any way, and it's more of a continuation. The graphics, gameplay, and strategies are virtually identical. One problem I had with it though, is that it is fairly linear. You won't be able to advance much if you start exploring and wandering off. Also, when you are asked a question, many times you are given two different choices for an asnwer you can give, however there is only one correct answer, and you will basically get the same response regardless of which answer you give. For instance, if a character asks you if you want an apple, you can say A. Yes or B. No. If you say yes, he'll say something like "great, I knew you would!" If you say no, he'll say "What? That's crazy, of coure you want an apple, take it!" It pretty much makes this option pointless.

Lastly, some of the dialogue canbe REALLY long. You can't save your game during the dialogue and sometimes you'll have to sit through ten minutes of speech. It doesn't detract much from the game play however.

Overall, this game provided MANY hours of game play, unlike a lot of games that you can finish in a few hours. I found "The Lost Age" to be the best RPG I've played since the original Final Fantasy for Game Boy came out about 15 years ago.

Customer Review: Even better than the original
Summary: 5 Stars

After playing Golden Sun, I didn't think I'd ever find a game as good. Well, I was wrong! Golden Sun: The Lost Age doesn't really improve graphically from the first Golden Sun, but that's only because Golden Sun's graphics are already at the top of the line. The music's all really nice and catchy, too. I won't spoil the storyline for you, but it's full of nice twists and turns and you're sure to like it. The characters all have distinct personalities too, it's fun to listen to their dialogue. Too bad Felix, the main character, doesn't talk, but Isaac didn't either in Golden Sun. You also have little expression bubbles (smiley faces, for example), to show expression, which seems odd at first, but you get used to it. I'd say Golden Sun: The Lost Age is definitely one of the better RPGs I've ever played.

*challenging 10/10
this game is one of those games that makes your heart beat faster and faster just wanting to know more about the plot. This game is pretty challenging you'll have to train your characters an awfully lot becuse the bosses are pretty hard, but not to hard that it will make you want to quit the game and have nothing more to do with it.This game deserves 5 stars if i could give it more i would.
