Video Game Reviews of Metroid FusionCustomer Review: Awesome! Summary: 5 StarsSince I grew up to the Metroid series, I was thrilled they released this on the GBA. While keeping the same side-scrolling SNES gameplay, they very much improved on the graphics and sound here (though they kept the feel, still). The story fits right in with the classic metroid theme (actually taking off on the original gameboy release). The thing that got me most about this game was that the boss fights are much faster paced than the previous releases. Also, when enemies drop "energy" or "missiles," they just don't leave them sitting there. They're in the form of a sort of parasite, and they often fly away if you're not quick enough to grab'em. If you like the other Metroid games, or if you like sci-fi adventure games, you can't go wrong here!
Customer Review: Possibly the weakest title in the Metroid series Summary: 3 StarsMetroid Fusion is one of the better action titles for the GBA, but it pales in comparison to other games in the Metroid series.
Game progression is uncomfortably linear, basing itself around a computer entity that tells you exactly where to go, what to do, and how to do it. Arbitrary limits on certain abilities prevent the player from straying too far from the intended path. The story is actually pretty interesting, but is told through large amounts of unskippable dialogue, making a second playthrough very tedious.
This is definitely one of the harder Metroid games, and not in a good way. It proves to be more frustrating than challenging. Enemy damage and hitpoints ramp up faster than Samus' firepower, so it always feels like you're catching up rather than getting stronger. Many of the boss battles are very unforgiving -- I had to use a FAQ at least once to keep from throwing my system.
The music is also a significant deviation from the rest of the series, being cold, mechanical, and unmemorable (exception: AQA underwater theme).
Don't get me wrong, Fusion is a great game, especially compared to all the other junk action titles for the GBA. It's just not up to the standards of previous (or subsequent) Metroid games. There's a lot of emphasis on combat, in a series that has always put exploration first. If you can only afford one Metroid game for your GBA, I would recommend Zero Mission instead.
Customer Review: Falls a bit short compared to other Metroid games... Summary: 4 StarsWhile this game is highly enjoyable, it falls somewhat short of 'perfection' when compared to most of the other Metroid games.
I wasnt too fond of Samus new 'look' and the fact that this game pretty much holds your hand and tells you what to do next and where to go next. It makes you lose the sense of free exploration that the Metroid games are much known for.
Still, this is an extremely solid and well made space adventure that should keep you occupied in its 3-5 hour mission.
Customer Review: metriod: could have been better Summary: 4 Stars I LOVE THIS GAME I HAVE PLAYED IT HUNDREDS OF TIMES AND NEVER FOUND IT BORING NO I DID NOT ACCIDENTALLY HIT CAPS LOCK THIS IS A GREAT GAME o.k. you get the point well don't be confused by my title the only reason i say this is becausethe game can get connfusing and a little scary for young players ecpecially when you realize the b.s.l. is a metroid breeding enviroment but for slightly older players this is a great game
Customer Review: (If I could choose 1 billion stars for this, I would do it) Summary: 5 StarsThis is a continuing of my last review. The one that said I can't beat the spider thingy, uh huh, that's the one. Well I got farther this time! Way farther! After tou beat the spider guy you have to get past SA-X. Then you have to fight this plant guy which you get plasma beam from. Then you have to fight nightmare wich you get the gravity suit from. Then the sicurity robot is back except he's infected by X this time. Very easy!! Then you have to dodge all of the metroids and get to this place. Then you fight Ridley wich you get the screw attack from. Then you you have to kill Sa-x and fight Omega Metroid and I'm stuck near there. I recamend tis game highly.
