First when I saw GBA SP, I thought it was so dumb. But when I found out that it had built in light, and rechargable battery, I was hooked up to it. After that I decided to buy one. So I went to the store and bought one. I couldn't wait to open it. When I got home, I read the insturction manual, and started charging. the Clam shell disigh was what I thought it was the coolest. It looks like a mini laptop that plays game! The part I liked the most is built in light. The GBA's light got on your way when playing game in the dark. Now there is built in screen like palm, you don't have to worry about light getting in your way. the LED indicater makes SP more cooler. (From side way) My hands are fairly large but SP is still comfertable to me! I still like playing GameBoy Advance SP.

Pro
- It has built in screen
- Rechargable battery
- portable
- better sound

Cons
- No headphone jack
- have to order rechargable battery when it goes completely dead

I bought black GBA SP because I thought it was the coolest color.

P.S Don't buy platium. It scratches off and smears off

I am a big Mac Gamer and thought this would be nice to pass my time when I'm away from the computer. The GBA is designed very well and fits nicely into one's hands.
The sound out of the GBA leaves a little to be desired but the graphics are what you would expect from 32mb of graphics. If you have ever enjoyed games on a PDA then this is a must!
37 yrs. old and I finally got my first GameBoy, life is good!

Customer Review: Superb Portable Gaming Device
Summary: 4 Stars

I must say, Nintendo has done a damn good job with their Gameboy Advance SP. The only gameboy I had ever owned was the original. At first I didn't want anything to do with any more Gameboys. But after trading a bunch of games in at ebgames, I had about 80 bucks worth of credit and couldn't think of a damn thing to buy. On a whim, I bought a GBA and FF Tactics Advance.
Well that didn't work out to well, as I was plagued by terrible shoulder/arm/back pains at having to sit in the most uncomfortable positions to get decent lighting.

I therefore decided on getting a GBA SP for Christmas, and after some thorough playing I can safely say it's worth the money if you like the GBA's library or find yourself away from home often with nothing to do.

The control is decent, some games such as Mario 3 get a little tough when you have to hold B and pump A, but Nintendo was nice enough to allow the R Shoulder button to act a substitute.
The folding design allows the screen to remain safe from scratches and collects only minimal dust, and is great for fitting in the pocket.
And the backlight can be turned on and off, and you'll want it off when playing in bright areas to reduce color washing.

Thankfully, there aren't too many problems with this device.
The only real problem I have is that it has no stickies or pads on the bottom when folded up to hold it to a surface. This is a bother because most of the surfaces in my house are smooth countertops, or tabletops or desktops, and the wooden ones are glossed. The last thing you want is to have this thing fall off the table and break, and with nothing to help keep it in place I get a little worried.

Overall, nothing to be worried about. The best portable system for the cost.

Customer Review: A Product Well Worth the Moolah
Summary: 5 Stars

Before the SP, I had absolutely no interest in the Gameboy games as my younger siblings did. The screen was so crappy; it was so hard to see. But then the SP came. Seeing it' sleek, compact design and the backlighted screen, I fell in love. Sadly I did not get one for Christmas, as my parents knew I had no interest in handhelds. However my mother had accidentally bought an extra (thinking she forgot to buy my sister one, when it was just hidden). I thought about keeping it. I said "Is it onyx?" And to my luck, it was! And that is how I came to love the SP. The design is genius; WAY better than the bulky, exposed screen of the previous. And what shocks me most-- it's so tiny! Tiner than I had ever imagined! Great for travel! However the only con I have to talk about is the fact that it has no headphone jack. No room, perhaps? But anyways, you will have a blast playing away on the GameBoy Advance, GameBoy Color, and origional GameBoy games!
