Video Game Reviews of Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros 3Customer Review: Nothing's changed Summary: 5 StarsI loved this game as a kid and I still love it now...it's exactly the same is when it was on old school nintendo...i love it:)
Customer Review: Play Super Mario 3 Anywhere! Summary: 5 StarsUsed though it may be, I have been very happy with my Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3 cartridge.
One of the biggest disadvantages of the original Game Boy - in my opinion - was that none of the original Game Boy cartridges were portable versions of games available on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Don't get me wrong; Super Mario Land and Super Mario Land 2 were great games, but who could beat being able to take Super Mario Bros. anywhere?
The Game Boy Advance SP changed that. Now, older gamers such as myself who remember the "golden age" when Super Mario Bros. 3 was considered "new school" gaming can play anywhere.
The production values (if that term applies to gaming) are very high with this cartridge. Everything on this cartridge - the overworld maps, the individual levels, the music - are all as they were back in 1990 when we first popped our Super Mario Bros. 3 cartridges into our NESs and started playing.
The only real difference is that this is a port of the Super Nintendo's Super Mario All-Stars version of Super Mario Bros. 3. That may disappoint some gamers, but I found the slightly enhanced music and graphics to be as enjoyable as the original game.
Great stuff! I recommend it for anyone who's interested in REAL Mario games and not the syrupy, kid-oriented, crappy Mario games (AHEM Super Mario Sunshine AHEM) we see today
Customer Review: One of the best Super Mario games EVER!! Summary: 5 StarsSuper Mario Bros. 3 was one of my favorite games growing up, my brother and I used to play it all the time so, obviously I was so ecstatic when I realized the Super Mario Bros. 3 was available for GameBoy! And I was not let down when I received it. I was addicted all over again. It's not just a game for kids, I am an adult but I don't care that people know I still like playing video games every once in a while.
Customer Review: JUST LIKE I REMEMBER Summary: 5 StarsThis game is great!! Just like I remember playing as a kid! It is so much fun and even my 4 year old loves playing it. Highly recommended!!!
Customer Review: The best of the Mario games Summary: 5 StarsSuper Mario Advance 4 bundles together Mario Brothers and Super Mario Brothers 3. As Mario Brothers has already been released repeatedly on the Game boy, Super Mario Brothers 3 is the real draw. And what a game it is.
Super Mario Brothers 3 was originally released for the NES in the early 1990s. It went back to the original Super Mario Brothers side-scrolling formula, and added a great deal. It's all perfectly recreated here, with improved graphics and sound (save for the "voice acting," which is unnecessary but not a true hindrance). The game is expansive, with a lot of different suits and many different options. The world map and warp whistles allow you to hop from one stage to another quickly, or you can play through the whole thing, possibly discovering things that got missed in the original.
The availability of a save feature is the big draw here. The original game didn't have one, and so it was usually necessary to warp past worlds if you wanted to win the game. Now, you can take your time and enjoy the variety and fun of every stage, although you can still warp past ones you'd prefer to avoid. In all the franchise, there is no better Mario game than Super Mario Brothers 3. It's a thrill to have it back, even if it's on a smaller screen.
